Bubby Franni’s Butter Cookies
Serves: 2 dozen cookies
- Yields: 2 dozen cookies
Preheat oven to 325°F and line baking sheet with parchment paper.
Beat butter, sugar and vanilla together until smooth and creamy. Mix in egg yolks until incorporated, scraping down and sides of bowl at least once.
Add baking powder to flour and mix into batter alternately with sour cream, just until incorporated. Scrape onto a floured board and knead a few times, just until dough is smooth.
Dough can be rolled out and cut into shapes or rolled into a log with plastic wrap and refrigerated until firm enough to slice.
Once shapes have been made or log has been sliced, about ⅛” thick, place them on baking sheet about an inch apart.
Bake until just beginning to turn golden around edges, about 16-18 min.
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 2 extra-large egg yolks
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teasponns baking powder
- 1 tablespoon sour cream
